Induction of tolerance to pentadecylcatechol in the guinea pig by intravenous injection of 1-O-α-D-glucopyranosyl-3-pentadecylcatechol
" 1-O-α-D-glucopyranosyl-3-pentadecylcatechol(GPDC)is α-glycoside substituted hydrourushiol at 1 position of ring hydroxy groups. As glycoside is hydrophilic,GPDC can be soluble in water. Thus,GDPC can be easily injected without using any detergents or other vehicles such as acetone, corn oil, etc.GDPC generates free urushiol in vivo by hydrolytic enzyme such as glycosidase, etc. In this study,GDPC was injected intravenously into Hartley guinea pigs 2 weeks prior to attempted sensitization to 3-pentadecylcatechol(PDC).The pretreated animals with intravenous GPDC showed immune tolerance to PDC.The toleramce was immunologically specific for PDC,since the tolerant animals were adle to be sensitized to the unrelated sensitizer dinitrofluorobenzene."
