Stoichiometric Studies on The Action of Laccase

" In the preceding paper1 it was reported that the laccase molecule contains four atoms of cupric copper per molecule, and it was inferred that the catalytic action of laccase involves the valency change of these copper atoms. The present study was undertake with a view to substantiating this inference by investigating in detail the stoichiometric relationships existing in the laccase reaction with special reference to the behavior of copper atoms in their reactions with the substrate molecule, on the one hand, and with molecular oxygen, on the oter."
