Summary
The initial process for the reaction of the reduced laccase with dioxygen has been studied using stopped-flow spectroscopy. Diffusion of dioxygen to the trinuclear center was relatively slow (ca. 15ms) and the amount of the peroxide bound form was too low to be detected because the third electron-transfer from type 1 Cu to it was rapod (us order). The final electron transfer from type 2 Cu to the three-electron very slow (s order) and could be detected by a conventional spectrometer.
